What has happened to us culturally? When did it become OK to steal? Imagine if you had some movies, a TV and your DVD player stolen how you would feel. It certainly would not be pleasant.

So why is it OK then for so many on the web to steal music? It’s not. Let’s examine a few of the reasons why people do it and seem to think it is OK. Remember these are pragmatic reasons, which doesn’t make them right. It would be just like the person that stole your items to justify it by saying they needed them more than you did, you certainly have enough money o buy more. That’s pragmatism.

One reason is, and the main one, seems to be everyone does it. Well let’s sit back and think on that one a second- yep, that makes no sense at all. If everyone is doing it then it only means that everyone is stealing music. Poor excuse, but people use this one quite a bit.

The next one is that music companies and artists can certainly afford it. So! Just because these people may be rich, does not make it OK to steal from them. My banker is rich; I suppose he should just hand money over to me because he is.

The last reason seems to be it is the social norm. What has happened to society that stealing has now become the norm?
