After so many years of struggling with the down falls of the music industry including music piracy, iTunes has reached a huge milestone within the last several years. They are also marking the occasion by giving the person who downloaded the 10 billionth song a 10,000 dollar gift certificate to their store. Not a bad deal for one lucky downloader. They are still not out of the woods yet when it comes to issues within the industry though. Music continues to be stolen online daily. As more and more people do it, then it seems more and more people join in as if nothing were wrong about it.

So where do they go from here? They continue to expand their selections of downloads online. They started with music and have since added movies and more. With their site gaining in popularity, they hope to reach their next 10 billionth mark sooner than they did this one. But, as piracy continues to be a major issue, that pinnacle could be tough to hit. Only time will tell for the retailer how things in the future will go. As the industry changes, they must change also.
