You would think that Hollywood would have learned a much faster lesson than the music industry did when it comes to utilizing the internet to further music sales. It seems literally every day we find that there are law suits popping up all over between the music industry and somebody from the web. What a mess. It sure seems to be getting worse more and more for the music industry and things are turning upside down.

Hollywood saw in the first half of 2009 that DVD sales dropped over 13%. That is a huge drop. Check out this article for more information. People are getting their movies via online rentals, streaming them, downloading them or getting them through their cable or satellite provider. A drop in sales means less money to fund newer movies. Fewer funds also mean lower quality movies being produced. For Hollywood though it is not too late. They have the chance to embrace the internet changes as far as integrating movies online.

A failure to do so will end up in a huge mess for years to come. So see in the coming years if movies are becoming more a part of the mainstream online. If you don’t, look for the articles telling us how big a failure their integration was to the online world.
